THE local Republican Party
may amend its bylaws regarding its precinct clubs, according to GOP spokesman
Kimo A. Rosario.
He said a general membership meeting has been set for Thursday, 6 p.m.,
at the Garapan Central Park.
The purpose of the meeting is to unveil a proposal aimed at amending
certain provisions of the partys bylaws specifically, those
governing the establishment and organization of precinct clubs,
Rosario said in an e-mail yesterday.
He said he is not at liberty to discuss the proposed amendments prior
to the meeting.
According to a statement from the party, The purpose of these amendments
is to ensure equal representation of the GOPs general membership
at the precinct-level by assigning precinct leaders from each of the villages
that make up a precinct club and to empower the respective precinct clubs
by assigning them additional authority over precinct matters.
Asked about the recent meeting of GOPs Precinct 4 Club and its decision
not to nominate Rep. Candido B. Taman, R-Saipan, for a second term, Rosario
said he had no comment.
