Ilana Seid has
recently been inducted as one of the highly qualified applicants to become
a member of the prestigious Cap and Gown, Stanfords Womens
Honor Society.
Ilana is the daughter of Senate Floor Leader Alan Seid.
In a congratulatory message sent to Ilana via Email by The Cap and Gown
Actives Board through Lisa Vermillion, Stanford Senior Class President,
Biology Major, Class of 2007, which said "We are pleased to welcome
you to one of the most dynamic and exciting women's groups on campus."
As a new member of Cap and Gown, Ilana is required to attend the Tapping
Tea ceremony for new active members on Nov. 16 in Tressider Oak West.
Before Tapping Tea, Ilana had been required to send her favorite application
essay and three of her favorite activities to use in her biography.
Additionally, she was also required to pay $25, an amount
That would cover Cap and Gown dues for the 2006-2007 school year, which
enables members to put on the wonderful events that Cap and Gown is known
for.
"Looking ahead to our winter quarter activities, we are planning
an event called the Freshman Women Winter Welcome to welcome the freshman
women to campus and inform them about Cap and Gown," the message
said.
"We are eager to have your active participation in planning and attending
this event on the evening of January 18. Ee are also looking forward to
getting to know you and implementing your ideas for Cap and Gown."
Ilana is a recipient of a full scholarship from the Palau National Scholarship
Board.
She is a senior at Stanford University majoring in Law and Economics.
