Palau to get $5M more from FAA

The Palau government is getting an additional funding assistance of over $5 million for Year 2007 for the improvement of the Palau International Airport from the Federal Aviation Administration.
President Remengesau announced during his weekly press conference that Palau will get $2,836,776 more for rehabilitation of the airport runway.
A loading bridge will be installed this year at the airport which will cost $1,500,000 while an amount of $350,000 will be earmarked to purchase an Airport Rescue Firefighting Rapid Intervention vehicle and $1,000,000 is set aside for the construction of a perimeter security fence at the airport.
Palau will get a total of $5,686,776 this year and from year 2004 Palau has obtained a funding of $26,310,000 for the Airport Capital Improvement Program.
Last year, Palau has obtained a funding of $6,860,000 for ARFF vehicles maintenance, ARFF building construction and rehabilitation of the runway.
The FAA has also granted an amount of $350,000 for 2008 for the Airport Master Plan.
