THE Board of Directors of
the Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association elected its officers
last month with Michael White reelected as president.
Others elected were Saipan Swim Coach Michael Stewart as vice president,
baseballs Rose Igitol as secretary general and Northern Marianas
Athletics Robin Sapong as treasurer.
The officials were elected in a separate meeting attended by the directors
of the NMASA board.
The board has 10 directors in tennis Jeff Race, baseballs
Igitol and Tony Rogolifoi, Stewart, basketballs Elias Rangamar,
volleyballs Jon Cramer, golfs Jess Wabol, Sapong, wrestlings
Joe Ocampo and White.
The 10 directors were elected on Jan. 4 during NMASAs first monthly
meeting for 2007.
Meanwhile, White is reminding participants in the 13th Pacific Games in
Apia, Samoa of the third installment payment for the Samoa trip.
Sports federations must pay $960 per athlete on April 1. The last installment
will be $1,280 per athlete and will be due on June 1.
It will cost $3,200 to send one athlete to Samoa, which will host the
quadrennial meet in August.
The NMI is expected to send a relatively small delegation to the Pacific
Games due to financial constraints.
Only six sports federations have expressed an interest in competing in
Samoa. They are beach volleyball, athletics, golf, sailing, surfing and
tennis.
A chartered flight for the NMI delegates is unlikely because of its small
delegation.
At NMASAs meeting last week, White said they are still coordinating
with the Pacific Games organizers for arrangements on the trip, accommodations
and other details concerning the NMIs participation to the multi-sports
meet.
