A MAN convicted for receiving
stolen property in 2003 was arrested on Tuesday for beating up two minors.
Mathew Wayne Kisa, 24, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for assault and
battery and was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday
morning.
Assistant Attorney General Anne Marie Roy requested that the recommended
bail of $5,000 be retained.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman granted the governments request.
The defendants counsel, Assistant Public Defender Adam Hardwicke,
requested bail modification and a hearing was set for Friday at 11 a.m.
Kisa was ordered to appear in court for the preliminary hearing on Feb.
13, at 9 a.m. and for arraignment on Feb. 20, at 9 a.m.
He was convicted for receiving stolen property on June 25, 2003 and is
presently on probation.
According to the police affidavit, Kisa had just finished playing basketball
with his brother-in-law when he attacked his minor brother-in-laws
friends.
The victims were hanging out with a friend who is the defendants
brother-in-law when Kisa grabbed a 14-year-old from behind and started
pinching his chest.
The victim pushed the defendants hand away and told Kisa to leave
him alone.
Kisa then pushed the victim down, punched him in the head and kicked him
in the stomach.
Kisa stopped beating the victim when he heard the victims father
shouting at them.
Kisa immediately left in a pick-up truck.
According to the affidavit, before beating up of the 14-year-old boy,
Kisa had hit another minor with slippers.
Kisa chased the 10-year-old boy and hit the back of the minors head
with the slippers. He then got the boy in a headlock and hit him again
with the slippers.
