TWO fishermen were rescued by the Department of Public Safety from a vessel that was having engine problems.
Deolito Ramirez, 31, and Adelino Tejoras, 42, were in good condition when they were rescued by DPS Boating Safety Section personnel.
Acting DPS spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. said Boating Safety officers were dispatched to respond to a distressed vessel report west of Managaha on Friday at 5:03 p.m.
The fishermen were aboard a white and blue Yamaha fiberglass boat with a 175-HP engine, heading to Malakes Reef for trolling.
At 4:45 p.m., they returning to Smiling Cove Marina, but encountered engine problems.
The fishermen called on Civil Defense to report their situation.
DPS was alerted to assist them.
The boat was inspected and was found to be in compliance. Blas said no citation was issued to the boat’s occupants.
