Kagman cleanup

THE Kagman Komunidat Association will conduct a major cleanup of the village in coordination with Beautify CNMI!, Laolao Bay Golf Resort, DPW, DPS, Corrections, DLNR, Saipan Mayor’s Office, and Rep. Cinta M. Kaipat’s office.
The group will clear overgrown vegetation that is partially covering the streets of Kagman.
The vegetation poses a threat to drivers and pedestrians.
Members of the public are invited to join the cleanup at 8 a.m. on Feb. 13 at the Kagman Community Center.
Homestead owners are encouraged to clean up on that day and may leave their biodegradable debris beside their lots for DPW to pick up for free.
DPW will be picking up the debris on Feb. 13-16. Only a one time pickup will be allowed per lot.

Vigil, flag presentation

THE Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3457 will hold a vigil and flag presentation as the remains of Marine Lance Cpl. Adam Quitugua Emul arrive at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport on Saturday, Feb. 10.
VFW members, families and friends led by Commander Mariano Fajardo will be at the exit intersection of the airport.
As the remains of Emul pass the group, the VFW will dip the services flags and present arms.
The VFW wants to express its appreciation for its fallen comrade’s ultimate sacrifice.
The VFW invites the entire community to join the vigil at 2:15 p.m. Bring flags and banners to be raised as the remains pass by. Participants are also encouraged to bring refreshments and umbrellas, in the event of inclement weather.
Vehicles are to be parked along the side of the road, facing the remains and the entourage.
All participants should also turn on their blinking lights. The Department of Public Safety will be on site to direct traffic. For more information, call Larry Guerrero at 287-1052 or Mariano Fajardo at 285-4865

Flame Tree TV acquires The Visitors Channel.

THE newly launched KSPN2/Flame Tree TV has purchased The Visitors Channel Saipan, and will operate Channels 2 and 3 out of its third floor studio at the Nauru Building in Susupe.
“These are exciting times, and the acquisition is going to allow us to diversify and complement what we offer for both locals and tourists” says managing director Chris Nelson. “KSPN2 will now truly become the local station anchored by the Channel 2 News, and we look forward to adding local content to KSPN2 in the future.”
Channel 3 will continue to broadcast to tourists. It will include current content from the Visitor’s Channel, but that content will be supplemented in the coming weeks by new pieces, a calendar of events, and programming that is updated frequently.
