Australian conman back behind bars, for now

BRISBANE (Pacnews) — Australian conman Peter Foster has been remanded in custody after appearing in a Brisbane court charged over a money laundering scam.
Australian Federal Police arrested the 44-year-old when he flew into Brisbane, a day after being released from a Vanuatu jail.
He was taken straight to the Brisbane Watchhouse where he was charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime greater than $234,000 fraud against the Bank of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Foster, in beach shirt and jeans, did not enter a plea at his court appearance.
Magistrate Jim Herlihy agreed to a request by Foster’s lawyer Michael Mcmillan to adjourn the case until Feb. 8, when a bail application is expected to be made.
