APIA (Pacnews) — The police in Samoa will issue a warrant to arrest a New Zealand tourist who was granted bail to leave the country.
Kevin Peter Beatson is denying four charges of indecency, including assault.
The assistant police commissioner, Lilomaiava Fou Taioalo, said a warrant for his arrest will be issued against the accused if he won’t return to face the charges.
Lilomaiava said the attorney general’s office will negotiate with its New Zealand counterpart in order to execute the warrant.
The proposed police move came amid concerns over a decision by the district court last week which allowed Beatson to leave the country after paying sureties of $2,000.
