THE arrest of three minors early this week led to the arrest of five more teens yesterday in connection with a recent rash of burglaries and thefts of motor vehicle parts in the MongMong-Toto-Maite area.
Guam Police Department public affairs officer Allan Guzman said Hagatna Precinct officers conducted a follow up investigation on Wednesday’s arrest and were able to take five additional minors into custody.
“Officers were able to locate five more suspects linked to numerous criminal mischief incidents and thefts of vehicles in the West Gate Apartments in Toto. Damage to vehicles included that to an official GPD Jeep Cherokee,” Guzman said.
The arrested minors were aged 12, 13, 14, and two 15-year-olds.
They were all charged by GPD with theft of property, theft of a motor vehicle, conspiracy to commit theft, and guilt established by complicity. They remain in the custody of the Department of Youth Affairs.
Guzman said six cases were cleared as a result of yesterday’s arrests. Police were able to recover some of the items, including car accessories like compact disc players, amplifiers and speakers.
Three minors were arrested Tuesday night for their alleged involvement in the burglaries of a Toto home and the Benson Warehouse. These three minors also remain confined at DYA.
One of the three boys was alleged to have tried to burglarize a Toto home Tuesday when a woman inside the house discovered him in her living room. The minor then fled.
The woman contacted police, which conducted an investigation that led to the apprehension of the boy and two other minors.
The three minors—one aged 14 and the other two aged 16—were linked to another burglary at the Benson Hardware Warehouse on Sunday.
