MYRON Laniyo scored 29 points
to power Da Lani Kynez to a 56-44 juiced-out win over Kich Fairo in the
second round of the World Organized Rocball Community League yesterday
at the Marianas High School Gym.
Laniyo drilled 15 of his total output in the deciding fourth set, as he
helped Da Lani Kynez bounced back and enter the win column after two straight
losses.
The game, which was halted last Wednesday, as students needed to return
to class, resumed yesterday with Kich Fairo leading, 5-4, in the opening
part of the third set.
Down by one, Laniyo nailed four aces, a xunx, two kees and a goal in the
remaining part of the fourth set to lead his team to a 17-9 triumph.
With a 1-2 record, Da Lani Kynez still has a chance to move into the semifinals,
while Kich Fairo is out of the Final Four with a 0-3 slate.
The six teams in the second round will have only five games each with
the top four squads advancing to the semifinals.
Da Lani Kynez won three sets against Kich Fairo. It prevailed in the first
set, 15-8 and also topped the second, 15-8.
Kich Fairo threatened to steal the game when it ruled the third set in
a convincing fashion winning by 10 points, 19-9.
But Kich Fairo failed to sustain its momentum, as Laniyo took charge for
Da Lani Kynez in the fourth set.
Seventeen aces, five xunxs, eight kees and four goals were scored in the
game.
