THOSE planning to participate in the 2007 Coconut Classic Tennis Tournament have only until tomorrow to turn in registration forms and entrance fees to play in the Northern Mariana Island Tennis Association-organized tournament.
The entrance fee is $15 per player. The entry fee will cover two events.
Draws will be held on Sunday, while a game schedule and pairings will be posted on Feb. 15 on the AMP bulletin board and at All Star Sports.
The Coconut Classic netfest will run from Feb. 16 to 19 at the American Memorial Park tennis courts.
NMITA will be holding competitions in the men’s and women’s singles and men’s 40-and-up divisions.
The junior division will feature contests in the boys and girls’ 18-and-under, 13-and-under and 9-and-under.
The four-day tournament will also have a mixed up doubles competition, in which a junior player can choose a partner from the upper age groups or from the men’s and women’s singles divisions.
In last year’s Coconut Classic, the winners were Melody Johnson, Thea Minor, Benjie Decena, Ji Hoon Heo, Sonny Decena and Mayuko Arriola.
Sonny Decena beat Ed Johnson in the men’s singles, while Arriola beat Karen Ramsey in women’s singles.
Johnson topped the girls’ 10-and-under, while Minor joined and won the boys’ division last year.
Sonny’s son Benjie notched the boys’ 14-and-under downing Dominic Von Siebenthal, while Heo tripped Ralph Buenaventura in the 18-and-under division.
