A 31-year-old man charged with burglarizing a residence and a government agency on Tinian has pleaded guilty.
Jose B. Manglona appeared for a change of plea hearing on Feb. 2 with Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartigg.
Assistant Attorney General Anne Marie Roy agreed to dismiss the other charges — two counts of theft and one count of burglary and one count of removal of government property — in exchange of Manglona’s guilty plea.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman accepted the plea and sentenced Manglona to three years of imprisonment all suspended except for 45 days with 11 days credit for time already served in jail.
Manglona was ordered to report to the Department of Corrections on March 1 at 8 a.m. to start serving his sentence.
He was placed on probation for a three years and ordered to pay a fine of $250.
Manglona will perform 100 hours of community work service at a minimum of eight hours per month.
He will also submit a letter of apology to the victim Russel Long.
Manglona’s review hearing was set for July 6.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Manglona, on May 5, 2006, entered the residence of Long.
Manglona burglarized the residence and the office of the Department of Lands and Natural Resources on Tinian, the AGO stated.
It added that Manglona stole two TV sets, a computer monitor, a gold bracelet, a DVD and VHS player, DVD tapes, an Xbox with 15 games, a GE cordless phone and digital camera from the residence of Long.
From the DLNR office, the AGO said Manglona stole a water dispenser, an air-conditioning unit, a water bottle, a floor jack, a bench grinder, a hand grinder and eight gallons of gas.
