President Remengesau requested
the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to retain Ming-Lii Hseu, Leader
of the Taiwan Technical Mission in Palau who will end his term soon.
The president in a letter asked Foreign Affairs Minister James Huang to
extend Hseus contract because there are pending agricultural projects
he should oversee.
"Because there are a number of vital agricultural projects that Hseu
has already started in different states of Palau, I am humbly seeking
your favorable consideration and support in extending Hseus contract
in Palau so that he may continue to pursue the said pending projects until
their completion," the president said.
The president said that Hseu is requested to stay until the completion
of the projects.
Given Mr. Hseus good working relationship and cooperation
with his counterparts in Palau and the understanding they have developed
since the initiation of the said projects. It would be best that Mr. Hseu
remains in Palau and pursue those projects until their completion,"
the president said.
The Taiwan Technical Mission in Palau started in 1985 and has established
a horticulture and Crop Extension Project.
The Nekken farm in Aimeliik produces crops to reduce Palaus dependence
on imported crops and extending crop production throughout the island.
