(MVA) The Marianas
Visitors Authority recently had two interns join its team Sylvia
Leon Guerrero and Sheila Castro.
Leon Guerrero is a student of Northern Marianas College and is majoring
in hospitality and business management. Her anticipated date of graduation
is May 2008.
In 2006, she worked as an administrative assistant at NMC, assisting the
board of regents and the special assistant to the president.
Currently, she is a Polynesian entertainer with the Tehara Dance Company.
Castro is a senior at Marianas High School and will be graduating in June.
She aspires to attend college and major in hospitality management. She
also likes to obtain her masters in business administration one
day so she can return to the CNMI and work.
She recently worked as sales representative with The Athletes Foot
and an administrative assistant with Century Insurance.
Both students will gain work experience from the various divisions of
MVA.
They will be exposed to the many events MVA has planned this year such
as Xterra, Tagaman, Tourism Month activities and the Taste of the Marianas.
MVA has taken part in internship programs for over five years to provide
an opportunity to students to become a part of the CNMIs tourism
industry.
