Portion of package B of the Compact Road will remain closed to traffic until April to repair the failed areas in the road.
Highway Engineer Kione Isechal said that three different section of the road were damaged because of the soft soil causing the road depression.
Motorists driving to the Capitol will have to continue taking the Package A route all the way to the Ngatpang Junction for at least two more months.
Repair of one section of the damaged road is now undergoing repairs while the two other sections are yet to be repaired.
Isechal said the Army Corp of Engineer is yet to determine the process the road will be repaired.
With this, Isechal said that an independent engineer consultant is yet to assess the Compact road before it will be turned over to the government.
Isechal said it could take at least four to six months before the government assumes the road.
He added that the road will not be turned over section by section.
