By Cherrie Anne E. Villahermosa
Variety News Staff

DESPITE the recent arrests of several suspects, copper wire thieves struck again, this time victimizing the former La Mode garment factory in As Lito.
Acting Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. said the suspects cut and stole electrical cables from the factory’s generator.
The incident was reported to the police at 11:23 p.m. on Saturday.
A preliminary investigation conducted by Patrol Officer Kevin Maratita disclosed that it was a security guard who discovered that electrical cable for the generator had been cut and stolen.
DPS said the length and estimated value of the cable taken have not been determined yet and Blas said the generator will not be operable in the meantime.
Another purse snatching incident
In other news, a woman was robbed of her purse early Sunday morning in Chalan Kanoa.
Boram Lee, 22, was walking with a companion when the incident happened.
Lee and her companion had just walked out of a restaurant in Chalan Kanoa at about 2:30 a.m. when an unidentified man approached the victim and grabbed her purse.
The suspect was wearing a brown shirt and black long pants, had short hair and fair skin.
The victim lost her wallet, $20 in cash, pictures, a cellphone, driver’s license and important documents.
