A MAN charged fwith or assaulting
another man who refused to buy the defendant drinks has pleaded guilty
to assault and battery.
Norbert K. Manglona appeared in Superior Court for a change of plea hearing
with his counsel, Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartigg.
Assistant Attorney General Anne Marie Roy agreed to dismiss the theft
and disturbing the peace charges against Manglona.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman accepted the plea and sentenced Manglona
to one year of imprisonment all suspended except for nine days with credit
for nine days of time already served.
Manglona was placed on probation for a period of one year and was ordered
to perform 10 hours of community work service at a rate of ten hours per
month.
He will pay a fine of $25, submit a letter of apology to the victim, and
is prohibited from consuming alcohol during the probation period.
His review hearing was set for July 6 at 9 a.m.
Manglona was charged with punching Mohammad Sikder on June 26, 2006 at
the Momo Karaoke on Tinian, and for stealing the victims Casio wrist
watch
Sikder was assaulted because he refused to buy Manglona more beer.
