A GUAM Police Department Dededo precinct officer arrested a man and a 16-year-old for stealing aluminum fittings.
GPD public affairs officer Allan Guzman said Police Officer Matthew Cepeda responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Cruz Equipment in Harmon at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday.
“Someone entered the construction company (facility). They were stealing aluminum fittings to sell for scrap. They were operating a Nissan pickup truck and when the officers got there, they apprehended the two in the nearby vegetation area,” Guzman said.
Arrested in this case was Frank Christopher Aguon, 19, of Dededo. He was charged with criminal mischief, theft of property, and jurisdiction over an adult.
Also apprehended at the compound was a 16-year-old boy who was charged with theft of property and criminal mischief. He remains confined at the Department of Youth Affairs.
Stolen vehicle
A man was arrested at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday in connection with the alleged stolen vehicle he was driving that crashed near Latte Heights.
Guzman told Variety that a man left his 1991 Black Toyota Cressida unattended with the engine running when Steven S. Baza, 24, of Dededo, allegedly took it.
Baza and another individual took the car for a joyride after they found it unattended. Police later responded to a one-car collision on Route 26 off Latte Heights road, according to Guzman.
Baza and the passenger that he picked up, who was injured, as well as a 17-year-old, were in the car with him when it crashed.
Baza was charged by GPD with theft of a motor vehicle, jurisdiction over an adult, guilt by complicity, custodial interference, DUI with injuries, conspiracy, and leaving the scene of an accident. He was booked and confined.
The minor was released to his/her parents, as well as the other passenger who was injured as a result of the accident.
Guzman said the men hid from police in the jungle area near the scene of the accident until police found them. The injured man reportedly fell out of the vehicle during the accident.
