The five-megawatt generator will be installed at the Aimeliik Power Plant within two years.
Palau Public Utilities Corporation Chairman of the Board Kione Isechal said that the generator will cost at least $5 million.
Isechal said last week a pre-bid for the five-megawatt generator , while the purchase is being finalized he noted that the existing repairs are undergoing continuous repairs and refurbishing.
He said the maintenance and the purchase of the containerized generators have cost at least $1.2 million.
The amount was taken from the $7 million loan from a Taiwanese bank.
He said PPUC is taking a step by step approach in overhauling the generators and eventually build a new power plant.
