THE Department of Public Safety says the man found dead at Kilili Beach on Saturday was Mario Jacob Ramon Anson, 40.
According to court documents disclosed that Anson had several criminal records and was convicted of assault and battery in 1994 and burglary in 1999.
Anson got probation sentences for these crimes.
He used to work at the Saipan Stevedore’s warehouse.
Anson’s body was retrieved by medic personnel at the scene approximately 20 feet from the shore in knee-high waters of Kilili Beach on Saturday morning.
Anson was found floating with his face down.
He was rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center and was pronounced dead by the attending physician at about 10:30 a.m.
Acting DPS spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. said the case is still under investigation and Dr. Aurelio Espinola from Guam will conduct an autopsy this weekend to determine the cause of death.
In other news, convicted burglar Jerry Derson Ramon was released from the custody of the Department of Corrections on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Ramon, who is from Pohnpei and not from Palau as earlier reporter, has agreed to voluntarily leave the CNMI.
Ramon was charged with burglary and theft for entering the residence of Jacoba Seman on Aug. 18, 2006.
Ramon pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to five years of imprisonment, all suspended. He was given credit for time served.
