GWA to shut off water for valve repair

By Gerardo R. Partido
Variety News Staff

THE Guam Waterworks Authority will be shutting off water service in selected areas today to replace a pressure regulating valve along Route 3.
The work will start at 7 p.m. and last through 5 a.m. Saturday.
Those without water would include the areas from Route 3 starting from NCTAMS to the Micronesia Mall and down Route 1 to the Nissan Tank in Upper Tumon.
According to GWA public information officer Heidi Ballendorf, the following areas may also expect low water pressure: from the Nissan Tank through upper and lower Tumon including Tumon Bay, Guam Memorial Hospital, through Hagatna along Route 1 to the Port Authority.
“However, some may experience no water outage at all,” Ballendorf said.
She said residents or businesses still without water on Saturday, Feb. 17, after 5 a.m. can call the GWA trouble desk at 646-4211.
Also yesterday, residents in the Harmon area experienced little to no water pressure as a 14-inch water pipe broke along Adrian Sanchez street in Harmon.
The break caused a water outage up to the K-Mart area but Ballendorf said water pressure is expected to be normal by today.
“GWA appreciates the public’s patience as they work to improve water service to its customers,” she said.
