NMA Proa claimed back-to-back
wins after whipping NIC, 78-67, in the 45-and-up division of the Masters
Basketball League on Monday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Proa won over Top 45, 83-72, last Friday and made it two in a row as it
drew another impressive game from Poland Yamada.
Yamada, who scored 22 against Top 45, also notched 22 markers against
NIC.
Two other Proa players scored in double figures to help their teams
cause. Rufino Aguon chipped in 12 and Robert Tamonding added 11.
It was a close game as neither team was able to lead by more than 11 points.
Proa led by only one at the end of the first quarter, 17-16, as Tony Gabriel
kept NIC afloat firing six points in the opening canto.
NIC grabbed the lead in the second period, 28-25, with Sonny Ebuen leading
his team scoring NICs first seven markers in that quarter.
Proa regained the lead entering the final period, 51-50, with Yamada drilling
10 of his total points in the third quarter.
Yamada picked up where he left off adding eight more points in the fourth
quarter, while his teammates also stepped up to notch their second consecutive
victory.
Ebuen paced NIC with 21 points.
In the other game, the Dino Sores pulled off a 65-62 triumph over Top
45.
