The 2007 Saipan Little League
Baseball season kicks off tonight with the Jets and the Tanapag Falcons
of the Big League division colliding in the opener at the Miguel Tan
Ge Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
Were excited about opening the season and were requesting
the parents presence at the opening and during the games to watch
their kids play, SLLB president Joe Salas said.
The opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. and is expected to be attended
by government and baseball officials and members of the 31 participating
teams in the Junior, Senior, Major and Big Leagues.
Salas, in an interview with the Variety, said that they invited Gov. Benigno
R. Fitial, the speaker of the House and the Senate, the presidents of
Tinian and Rota little leagues and NMI District Administrator James Ada
to attend the opening rites.
Salas is reminding teams to be at the venue at 5:30, as the opening ceremony
will start promptly at 6 p.m.
The Falcons-Jets tiff will follow immediately after the opening ceremony.
After tonights opening, SLLB will be holding games on Saturday and
Sunday.
This season, SLLB will be implementing a pitch count policy allowing pitchers
to pitch at a certain number of times. When they reach the limit, they
must be replaced.
