(DEQ) The Division
of Environmental Quality and its partners in the Beautify CNMI! coalition
announces the first ever most beautiful village contest.
Tina Sablan, contest coordinator, said she hopes villagers will take it
upon themselves to beautify their own neighborhoods for a chance to win
a prize.
Not only will villages be cleaner, safer, and more beautiful, the
winning village will be the recipient of a curbside recycling pilot project,
and will receive a Most Beautiful Village of 2007 sign to
post at the main entrance and exit street, said Sablan.
According to Sablan, villages will be judged based on effort, creativity,
aesthetic improvement, sanitation improvement, organization of effort,
and completion of projects proposed.
Villages may have more than one cleanup project, and must submit a completed
registration form describing the proposed projects to the DEQ office.
The last day to register for the village contest is on Friday, March 16.
Registration forms are available at www.deq.gov.mp or call Tina Sablan
at 664-8500.
The contest is part of the annual Environmental Awareness campaign by

Our Islands Shine! Additional events and contests are slated throughout
the month of April
The most beautiful village contest ends April 29 and judging will take
