THE Hustlers notched their
second win in as many games in the Majors division of the 2007 Saipan
Little League Baseball tournament yesterday at the Miguel Tan Ge
Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
The Hustlers posted back-to-back victories after pounding the OlAces
1, 26-3. The Hustlers won over the Toyota Matrix in their debut game last
Sunday, 13-9,
The visiting Hustlers were at-bat at the top of the first inning and quickly
set the tone of the game scoring five runs.
The OlAces had only one run at the bottom of the first inning. They
scored two more at the bottom of the second, but still the Hustlers kept
the lead, 11-3, scoring six more runs at the top of the second .
The OlAces two runs at the bottom of the second was their last.
Hustlers relief pitcher Austin Lizama after giving a single to the
OlAces Jeremy Lizama on a wild pitch, struck out Jesse Faisad.
A 1-3 putout play handed the OlAces its second out, while the bottom
of the third ended with second baseman Keoni Borja throwing the ball to
Jesse Seles, who beat the OlAces Shane Deleon Guerrero on
first base.
The Hustlers increased their lead to 18, 21-3, at the top of the fourth
drilling 10 more runs.
The OlAces chances to recover disappeared when the Hustlers
defense forced them to commit three straight outs at the bottom of the
fourth. Earlier at the top of the fourth, the Hustlers added five runs.
In other results yesterday, the Red Sox handed the Toyota Matrix their
second consecutive loss with a 13-1 triumph.
In last Sundays games, the OldAces 2 beat McDonalds and the
Chalan Kanoa Bears blanked the Athletics, 21-0.
Action in the Majors and the three other divisions returns this weekend.
In the Majors on Saturday the Bears takes on the Aztecs, the Reds face
the As, the OlAces 11 fight the Dragons and McDonalds battle
the Little Legals.
This Friday in the Big League, the Aztecs meet the Northern Angels. The
Fielders collide with the Pirates this Saturday in the Senior League,
while the Junior League will also have one game this Sunday with the Jets
squaring off with the OlAces.
