79ers edge PPR in overtime

The Ngiwal 79ers edged out Palau Pacific Resort, 87-80, in overtime on Tuesday night in Division II of the 2007 Shell NBL at the Palau National Gymnasium.
Adu scored seven of his 27 points in the extra period to lead the 79ers to their eighth win and close their elimination round scheduled with a 8-7 win-loss record.
Aladin and McRay added 24 and 18 points, respectively as the 79ers nearly blew-up a 42-30 halftime lead before pulling off the win.
PPR rallied in the third and fourth quarters to force the overtime with the regulation period ended at 76-all.
Before that, the league-leading Stingers bounced back with a 78-74 win over PCC Mesekiu with playing coach Topps Sungino leading the way with 16 points, including his team’s last basket fron the three-point area.
Vann Isac had 12, Tochong 9, Chua 8, Swing 8, Garth 7 and Peter 6 for the Stingers, who closed out the elimination round with a 13-2 record.
Duffy scored 31 for Mesekiu, who suffered their second consecutive defeat in two days and finished the round with a 7-8 card.
Earlier on Monday Feb. 12, the Stingers lost to the Jaguars, 87-90 while Mesekiu dropped its game against the 79ers, 68-78.
Also on Monday, Ngiwal Central scored a stunning 87-86 win over Peches, which closed out with an 11-4 record, same as the Jaguars.
With the win, Ngiwal Central improved its record to 7-8.
The second round started last night but no available results and schedules yet as of presstime.
