By Roselyn B. Monroyo
Variety News Staff

DA Lani Kynez strengthened its chances to enter the win column in the second round of the World Organized Rocball Community League after leading Black Magic in yesterday’s game at the Marianas High School Gym.
Da Lani Kynez was ahead by four, 46-42, midway through the fourth set before the match was temporarily stopped, as students needed to return to class.
Holding a 0-2 record in the second round, Da Lani Kynez must sweep its last three games to move into the semifinals.
Da Lani Kynez began its difficult mission with a 16-9 victory in the opening set. But it failed to notch back-to-back sets win after Black Magic regained its bearings and cruised to a 14-5 triumph.
It was Da Lani Kynez’ turn to bounce back in the third set drilling a 16-9 victory.
Only half of the fourth set was played yesterday with Da Lani Kynez holding on to a precarious one-point margin, 9-8.
The match resumes today with Black Magic’s Ryan Lisua serving.
If Da Lani Kynez wins the fourth set and still has the lead at the end of regulation, it will claim a juiced-out victory and improve to a 1-2 record.
If it loses, but hangs on to the lead, the game will go into overtime with Da Lani Kynez needing only one set win to end the match. Black Magic must prevail twice in the extension period to steal the victory.
Black Magic is holding a 1-1 record and also needs the victory to boost its chances for the semifinals.
Only the top four teams after the round-robin second round will move to the semis. So far, only the undefeated Mwaliyas and Watch & Learn, which have identical 3-0 records, are assured of slots in the next round.
The Dublon Chiefs have a 1-2 record, while Kich Fairo has a 0-2 slate.
Myron Laniyo was leading Da Lani Kynez with 13 points on one ace, one xunx, three kees and a goal. He nailed the lone goal so far in the match hitting it in the second set.
John Nekaifes was pacing Black Magic with 12 points. He has earned five aces and one xunx.
Sixteen aces, four xunxs, nine kees and one goal have been scored in the Black Magic-Da Lani Kynez tiff so far.
