Water operator exams now available at DEQ

(DEQ) — All public water systems regulated by the Division of Environmental Quality are required to be operated by persons certified in water treatment and/or water distribution.
Passing a water operator examination is one of the requirements for becoming a certified water operator.
Water operators that would like to take the examination are encouraged to contact DEQ to obtain an application and make an appointment.   The fee is $29.
In August 2006, DEQ became a member of the Association of Boards of Certification, the national non-profit organization that writes and administers examinations for environmental certification programs.  Membership in the association has allowed DEQ to offer the computer based exam for water operators in the CNMI.
DEQ plans to offer computer based exams for wastewater operators later in 2007.
