Temporary water delivery hours

(CUC) — Residents who receive water from a reservoir at Northern Marianas Collage will get it at different hours, as the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. announces a new and temporary schedule for water delivery.
Water is pumped from 15 water wells to the NMC reservoir. This water was previously stored in a one million gallon tank; and as it was released, the force pushed water from the Fina Sisu location as far as southern Garapan. Only 80,000 gallons of water can now be stored and released, affecting the hours in which customers get it and reducing water pressure.
The CNMI Water Task Force had a series of small and temporary tanks recently constructed at the NMC site after inspections revealed that the existing reservoir was structurally unsound and unsafe.
The task force is already in the process of having a new million gallon tank built in the Kanat Tabla area that, when finished, will supply water for this region. The temporary tanks will be used until the Kanat Tabla system is operational.
The schedule for water delivery is not yet final as the CUC Water Division is still conducting pressure testing and making adjustments. The temporary schedule for water delivery is:
• Fina Sisu:
4:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Kanat Tabla:
4 a.m. to 12 noon
• El Turo:
3 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.
• Beach Road from As Terlaje to the Naked Fish Restaurant: 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
• Chalan Pale Arnold (Middle Rd) from As Terlaje to Gualo Rai 12 noon to 9 p.m.
According to water personnel, these temporary hours may not be stable or the pressure may be erratic while further adjustments are made.
Customers are encouraged to call the 24-hour trouble desk at 235-0282 to report water conditions and this information will assist the CUC crews to make additional adjustments.
Customers are encouraged to conserve water at all times. During this process, customers should ensure that their residential cisterns/rain catchment tanks are cleaned and filled while adjustments are made in the delivery of water services.
