THE Marianas Racing Association has been invited to hold exhibition races on Rota during the Rota San Isidro Fiesta next month.
In on email to the Variety, MRA secretary Eleanor Cepeda wrote “the MRA received a letter of invitation from the Rota Municipal Council’s Office of Mr. Anthony Quitugua, Chairman, for the MRA to join them in this year’s Fiesta Celebration by putting on a show for the people of Rota, during the Rota San Isidro Fiesta (Fiesta Lanchero in Sinapollo Village) scheduled for March 10-11, 2007.”
Cepeda said that MRA president Eric Cruz held an emergency meeting last Tuesday and informed members about the invitation.
She added that they have an idea of the number of riders that will be participating in the race.
The MRA official also said that Cruz will be working with Rep. Chris Ogo and Rodney Mendiola of the Municipal Council’s Office to finalize details with respect to the race.
Cruz and rider Henry Camacho will be leaving for Rota before the races start to inspect and evaluate the site.
A 40-foot container van will be available to load the bikes today at Ericco’s office.
With MRA holding exhibition races on Rota next month, Cepeda said that they would not be having a point race in March. She added that results in the Rota races will not be counted in the monthly point standings.
Meanwhile, MRA thanked Triple J Motors, Joeten Yamaha, Mr. Peter Togawa and Mr. BJ Castro for supporting last weekend’s race.
MRA held its second point race last Sunday with three riders notching back-to-back victories in their respective divisions.
Manny Flores ruled the 80-85 cc expert class anew, while Ellery Cruz and Shane Alvarez cruised to their second win in a row in the 125-250 expert and novice class, respectively.
Other winners in last Sunday’s races were Henry Camacho (B/B ATV), Edinna Cepeda (60-65 class), Lorenzo Sablan (PW-80), Britney Camacho (Mini-ATV), Sheanna Pangelinan (powerpuff), Nathan Quitano (80-85cc novice) and Steve Sablan (125-250 vets).
