A MAN and a woman were arrested and charged in the Superior Court of Guam after admitting that they stole a car, jewelries, a baby car seat and a stroller to get money to buy illegal drugs.
Lenny Kalei Borja, 31, twice convicted in the local court for theft in 1997 and 1998, was charged along with Juan Cruz Camacho, 42.
They were each charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony, burglary as a second-degree felony, two counts of theft as a second-degree felony, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
The two were arrested Tuesday night while having a fight at the parking lot of Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo’s office in Hagatna, according to the magistrate complaint made by Deputy Attorney General Basil O’Mallan.
When police arrived after responding to a disturbance call, they saw Camacho leaning on a black pickup truck in the parking lot. Camacho told police officers that he was only having a verbal argument with Borja.
Police Officer Jimmy Rosete asked Camacho for permission to search his vehicle for guns or drugs which the latter consented to.
The police officer conducted a search and located inside a back pack a Krazy Glue container with a rolled clear plastic zip lock bag with suspected crystal methamphetamine.
The police officer also located a digital scale on the driver’s visor and a brown plastic pipe containing brown residue.
Camacho admitted that the pipe belonged to him and that the scale was also his, to verify the weight of the “ice” that he had purchased so that he wouldn’t get ripped off.
He said the back pack in the truck belonged to Borja and admitted that he assisted Borja in loading two rims, batteries, and what appeared to be a tool box in the truck.
Borja agreed to make a statement and admitted that he had just burglarized the house of Reginald Jackson in Chalan Pago where he took a set of 18 inches rims, batteries, a computer monitor, a computer box, a gold chain, diamond stud earrings and a safe that contained miscellaneous documents.
He also admitted that he burglarized the house of Franchesca Kammingas in Chalan Pago on Saturday and took the 2006 Toyota Corolla parked in front of the residence.
Inside the car were a Kodak digital camera, a baby car seat, a baby stroller and other items.
Camacho said he was walking past Kammingas’ house when he saw the car keys hanging in the lock.
The car and items inside were recovered but the gold necklace chain was swapped by Borja for “ice,” while the other items were stored by Camacho. .
