Wass’up humbles FBA defending champs

Palau’s Wass’up team humbled the defending champion Rangers on Sunday Feb 18 in the ongoing elimination round of the 2007 Filipino Basketball Association at the Palau National Gymnasium.
With the victory, the Palauans are now 5-1 in a tie with the ATT-Jaguars in second place behind the pacesetting Patriots.
Ziske Asanuma and Joe-Joe Roberts scored 21 points each for the guest team, whose lone defeat was issued by the ATT-Jaguars, a 79-69 decision on Jan 28.
Wass’up, which will not be part of the play-off round as a guest team for the first time in the league, will take on the Patriots next Sunday Feb 25.
The Patriots streaked to their sixth victory of the season by beating Surangel and Sons, 99-86, also last Sunday.
June Bautista and Joeger Supnet scored 26 and 24 points, respectively for the Patriots while Eric Maniuo led Surangel with 34 and Arnold Undecino with 29.
In the other games, the Jaguars defeated Samurai while the PDC Rams demolished slumping Basty Ngchesar, 99-76.
Three players scored in double figures for the Jaguars with Hener Aguinaldo firing in 25, Bong Alambra 18 and Bong Gayongorsa 11.
The Rams, who improved their record to 3-3 while dealing Basty its sixth straight defeat, were led by Jojo Arevalo with 29, Ernest Galpito 12, Demar Mondragon 11 and Leo Galpito 10.
Samurai’s current standing is also 3-3.
