THE two finals tickets in
the 2nd Calvary International Mission-Filipino Community Church Inter-Color
Basketball League-Genesis Invitational Cup will be at stake tomorrow when
four teams play at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
No. 2 team Joshua will try no notch the first finals berth when it collides
with No. 3 Jeremiah in the first game at 6 p.m.
Joshua finished the regular season tied with Daniel with an 8-1 record,
but was relegated to the No. 2 spot after losing in its lone meeting with
the pennant champion.
The second-ranked squad moved into the semifinals after an easy 95-63
victory against Isaiah last Sunday.
Joshua is slightly favored against Jeremiah, as it prevailed in their
lone match in the regular season.
Jeremiah finished the regular season with a 7-2 record and advanced to
Final Four after a 101-73 triumph over Nehemiah.
Jeremiah will lean on the trio of Errol Peredo, Jun Estolas and Kevin
Cequena, who scored 21 and more points in their win over Nehemiah.
They will go up against Jeff Garcia, Mike Umali, Bing Marasigan, Michael
Achas and Kelvin Fitial, who all scored in double figures in their 32-point
blowout victory over Isaiah.
In the second game, Daniel, which gained an automatic semis ticket, after
topping the regular season, faces the No. 4 team Caleb.
The pennant champ will lean on Elmer Esdrelon, Rick Alegre, Pando Muleta,
James Abuy and Dennis Vinas.
Caleb made it to the semifinals after a hard-earned 93-90 win over Elijah.
To post an upset over the favored Daniel, Caleb will be needing big games
from scoring machine Freddie Pelisamen, Edil Carino, Ronald Delos Reyes
and JR Barrios. Pelisamen fired 35 points in Calebs 3-point win
over Elijah.
The winners of the two semifinals berths will advance to the winner-take-all
finals on March 3, also at the Ada Gym.
