The playoff round in the womens
and mens divisions of the 2006 Inter-govt Softball Leagues
begins tonight at the Miguel Tan Ge Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
In the mens division, the Ports Police takes on Procurement and
Supply at 6:30 p.m.
The Ports Police finished the regular season in second place with a 13-2
record. P& S is ranked seventh entering the playoffs with a 10-5 slate.
At 8:30 p.m. No Zone collides with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. No
Zone is ranked No. 4 with a 12-3 record, while CUC finished in fifth place
with an 11-4 mark.
Pennant champion Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will start
its bid for a finals berth on Tuesday, as it faces the last-seeded Legislature.
DCCA topped the regular season with a perfect 15-0 record, while the Legislature
finished eighth with an 8-7 slate.
The DCCA-Legislature tiff on Tuesday is set for 8:30 p.m.
Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., Customs will meet Labor. Customs is ranked third
going into tonights playoffs with a 13-2 record. Labor ended the
regular season in sixth place with a 10-5 mark.
Winners in the first round of the playoffs will move into the semifinals,
which will be played on Wednesday.
The winners of the DCCA-Legislature and No Zone-CUC tiffs will fight for
the first finals ticket on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The victors of the Customs-Labor and Ports Police-P&S matches will
battle for the last finals slot at 7:30 p.m.
The championship will be a best-of-three affair. Game 1 is set for this
Thursday, while Game 2 will be played this Friday. Game 3, if necessary,
is also scheduled for Friday. Games 1 and 2 are set for 6:30 p.m., while
Game 3 is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
In the womens division, Finance challenges CUC tonight at 7:30 p.m.
with the first finals berth at stake.
Tomorrow, DCCA and the Public School System will meet for the second and
last championship slot.
The title showdown in the womens division will also be a best-of-three
affair. Games 1 and 2 are set for Thursday at 7:30, while Game 3, if necessary,
will be played starting at 9:30 p.m.
Finance took the pennant in the womens division with its 7-3 record
in the regular season. DCCA finished second with a 6-4 mark, followed
by PSS and CUC, which both finished with a 5-5 slate.
