THE Attorney Generals
Office has charged with assault and battery a teacher who sued the Public
School System and a former school principal for wrongful termination.
Chief Prosecutor Jeffery Warfield Sr.s information filed in Superior
Court states that Lisa Stuart Black hit a co-teacher in the head last
year.
According to the Attorney Generals Office, Black, on or about April
8, 2006, did unlawfully strike, beat or do bodily harm to Miss Roy
M. Starkey by hitting her in the head.
The AGO added that on April 8, 2006, Black and her co-defendant, David
Muna Sablan, disturbed Olga Arriola, Glenda Mendiola, Marissa Gelhaus
and Aubrey Ben.
Sablan was also charged with assault for threatening to harm Olga Arriola
on April 8, 2006.
Black and Sablan were summoned to appear in court on March 19 at 9 a.m.
Attorney Michael Dotts, who represents Black in her civil case against
PSS and former Hopwood Jr. High School principal Jim Brewer, yesterday
said the criminal charge filed against his client is not a mere coincidence.
What perfect timing, Dotts said in a phone interview. The
AG filed a bogus criminal charge at the time of closing argument. We just
had the closing arguments and the case is now in the jurys hands.
Black sued PSS and Brewer in federal court for wrongful discharge and
violation of public policy, violation of civil rights, intentional infliction
of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and
breach of contract.
The jury trial for the defendants started on Feb. 20, and concluded yesterday.
The eight jurors are now deliberating on the case.
