REPUBLICAN Party Precinct
4 club chairman Luis Kapileo accuses the GOP central committee of trying
to exert control over the precinct clubs.
He said the amendments adopted by the central committee two weeks ago
aim to invalidate the results of our meeting on Jan. 4 which
resulted in the election of new club officers and the selection of the
partys two candidates for the House of Representatives.
Kapileo said they held the meeting in accordance with party bylaws.
But now, he added, the central committee wants to apply the amended rules
retroactively so it can invalidate the Jan. 4 meeting.
Under the amended rules, the partys board of directors will organize
the precinct clubs and appoint all precinct leaders for term of two years.
The precinct leaders will elect the precinct club officers who will then
work with the central committee in choosing the GOPs legislative
candidates.
Kapileo said Precinct 4 will continue to insist on their right to choose
their own officers and candidates.
