The Office of the Public Auditor
announces the professional certifications of three OPA staff auditors
Paul A. Gentry, Rodalyn May G. Marquez, and Maria Angela dL Quinto.
Gentry has met all professional education, experience and examination
requirements established by the Guam Board of Accountancy and received
his license to practice as a certified public accountant on Guam.
Gentry is also certified as a CPA in Illinois. He joined the Office of
the Public Auditor in Oct, 2005. He previously was an auditor with the
firm of Deloitte and Touche Tohmatsu LLC working with commercial and government
audit clients in Guam.
Gentry earned his masters of accountancy at Western Michigan University
in 1995.
Marquez received her professional certification as a certified internal
auditor by successfully completing the four-part examination administered
by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
The examination evaluates technical competence in critical areas related
to internal auditing.
Only candidates who successfully meet the rigorous requirements and high
standards established by the IIA for character, education and experience
hold the certified internal auditor professional designation.
Marquez is also a certified government financial manager.
She has served as an auditor in the Office of the Public Auditor since
Jan. 2003 and has worked with complex, financial and compliance audits
in the government of Guam.
Marquez earned her accounting degree at the University of Guam in 2002.
Her parents are Roger and Soledad Gerardo. She is married to Arnel I.
Marquez and they have one son, Theone Jay.
Quinto successfully met the professional certification requirements established
by the Association of Government Accountants and received her certification
as a certified government financial manager.
She successfully completed the three-part examination and has two years
of professional-level experience in government financial management.
This professional designation recognizes the unique skills and specialized
knowledge required to meet the challenge of using every government financial
resource in the most effective manner to safeguard the public trust.
CGFM professionals must complete 80 hours of continuing education in government
financial management or related technical subjects every two years.
Quinto has served as an auditor in the Office of the Public Auditor since
Aug. 2004 working on the most complex audits in the government of Guam.
She was previously employed as a budget analyst with the Guam Legislature.
Quinto earned her finance and economics degree at the University of Guam
in 2003.
