Horecky declines reappointment to election board

TONY Charfauros, chairman of the Guam Democratic Party, has nominated lawyer John Terlaje to serve as a member of the Guam Election Board, replacing Fred Horecky, who has declined reappointment to the board.
Horecky, whose term expired on Feb. 23, along with the rest of the board members, represented the Democratic Party for eight years and served as the board chairman for four years. Without citing a reason, Horecky advised Charfauros that he did not want to be reappointed to the board. Horecky is off-island and couldn’t be reached for comment.
Charfauros also renominated Florence Ramirez and Alice Tejeron to continue their representation of the party.
The nominations were submitted last week to Gov. Felix P. Camacho.
The election board has seven members, three of whom represent the Republican Party and three from the Democratic Party. The Republican Party has yet to submit its nominees.
The six board members elect the board chairman and the independent member, who seats as the seventh member. Independent board member Dr. Greg San Nicolas’s term has also expired.
