President Remengesau issued
a Presidential Directive establishing the Pacific Games Organizing Committee
for 2007.
Presidential Directive No. 07-001 stated that the organizing committee
will be tasked with coordinating with the Palau National Olympic Committee
to create and implement strategies for the training of Team Palau.
Team Palau is also responsible with working with PNOC to ensure that it
meets the necessary criteria and guidelines for participating in the games.
Team Palau, according to the directive will also be tasked with securing
resources through fundraising to help with the expenses for the games.
Composing the committee are Community and Cultural Affairs Minister Alexander
Merep, PNOC president Frank Kyota, Senator Mlib Tmetuchl and Sinton Soalablai.
The committee will also include the executive members of the PNOC and
one representative from each of national sports federation.
Merep is chef de mission while Soalablai is the assistant chef de mission.
"Palau needs a committee to organize and oversee Team Palau so that
it may perform the best of its ability and proudly represent Palau at
the games.
