THE commonwealth celebrated the new year’s arrival peacefully and with no reports of injuries, says the Department of Public Safety.
Acting Police Director Capt. Pete Leon Guerrero said they did not receive any reports of injuries on New Year’s Eve.
Leon Guerrero added that no other incidents such as burglaries or other crimes were reported to DPS Central on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
“It was a peaceful New Year celebration as a whole,” Leon Guerrero said.
He said all of the department’s uniformed officers were deployed to monitor any incident involving fireworks or DUI.
On New Year’s Eve, more than a hundred residents and tourists were gathered at the Saipan World Resort in Susupe to witness a fireworks display which lasted for 15 minutes.
After the fireworks display, everybody proceeded to the hotel’s lounge to celebrate the New Year with drinks and dancing.
