The tandem of Keith Ignacio and Noel Reyes beat Nelson Sisior and Romeo Roque in Pre-Holiday Doubles Tournament finals sponsored by the Palau Tennis Federation.
Ignacio and Reyes, defeated the Sisior and Roque’s duo by winning two sets out of three with a score of 6-3, 7-5,6-4.
Larry Wakakoro, tournament director said that six teams fought over the championship title in a round robin game.
The top four teams then entered the playoffs to determine the teams to play in the finals.
In the playoffs, Ignacio and Reyes beat Natus Misch and Ben Ramos while Sisior and Roque won over the tandem of Kenny Reklai and Elliot Udui.
Wakakoro said the tournament begun Dec. 11 which was held at the Airai Elementary School tennis courts.
Due to the rains the championships game was not immediately scheduled, the final was conducted Dec. 23.
Wakakoro said the tournament was a gathering of Palauans and Filipinos who love the tennis sports.
He added that the federation will set another tournament in the future and hoped that regular games will follow after.
He also noted that special thanks should be given to Efren Sandig, Arnold Villegas and wife Connie for helping out in the tournament.
