THE Refaluwasch Golf Association begins its 2007 season on Saturday with the January qualifying tournament at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.
The check in time is 11 a.m. and one hour after golfers will tee off. The tournament is limited to 16 persons only so members are advised to sign up early.
The tournament and greens fee is $30.
RGA president Jess Wabol is encouraging new members to join them for the year-long tournament. The membership fee is $50 for one year.
On Dec. 9, June monthly winner Adam Hardwicke bested 10 other golfers to claim the RGA “Plas M. Tagabuel” Club Championship on the west course of the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort.
The five-handicapper Hardwicke finished with a net 69 for a four-stroke lead over Jess Wabol and Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho.
Alex Aquiningoc was the recipient of the Tony M. Taitano trophy, which is given to the member who scored the lowest net for the entire year. He posted an average net 70.
Wabol, meanwhile, received the Sid K. Peter award, which is awarded to the RGA member who played the most rounds in a year. Wabol joined 23 out of the 24 RGA tournaments.
Hardwicke, Aquningoc and Wabol received free one-year memberships for their feat.
For more information about RGA-organized events, call Wabol at 233-3673, RGA treasurer Sonny Flores at 234-1748 or RGA Handicap chairman Tony Satur at 322-1562 or 63.
