A 38-year-old man was arrested
for stealing a bottle of soju and a bottle of Listerine from 99 Cents
Supermart in Garapan on Wednesday night.
Acting Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. identified
the suspect as Norris Osiik Omengkar.
Omengkar tried to steal a bottle of soju worth $1.99 and a bottle of Listerine
costing $3.95, Blas said.
He said the incident was reported to DPS at 11:49 p.m.
Preliminary investigation conducted by Patrol Officer Andrew Santos disclosed
that an employee of the store noticed Omengkar at the drink cooler.
Omengkar was seen taking a bottle of soju and putting it into the front
of his pants.
The employee notified another co-worker and waited to see if Omengkar
was going to pay for the drink.
When Omengkar walked out of the store without paying for the soju, the
two employees immediately approached and held him until the arrival of
the police.
Omengkar was later arrested and was brought to the Department of Corrections
for booking and detention.
