A 24-year-old man arrested for sexually abusing a minor was brought to the Superior Court yesterday for a hearing.
Jose Javier, who was arrested by Detective Patrick Maanao on Wednesday afternoon for two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, appeared before Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo who set a cash bail of $25,000 for the defendant’s temporary liberty.
Govendo imposed a daily curfew from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and ordered Javier to stay away from the victim if he posted bail.
Javier was later remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections when he failed to post bail.
A preliminary hearing was set for Jan.11 at 9 a.m. while arraignment was set for Jan. 16, at 9 a.m.
According to the police, Javier sexually abused the victim sometime in December.
