Leilani N. Reklai was confirmed
to sit as board member of the Palau National Communications Corp.
With a vote of six yes and three no, the Senate confirmed the appointment
of Reklai to assume a vacancy at PNCC. Reklai would serve as PNCCs
board member for a term of four years. The board oversees the management
of the telecommunications company.
Last week, Reklais confirmation was reconsidered after the senators
voted five yes and four no. The Senate met again and voted for her confirmation
last Thursday.
The Senate Committee on Resources, Commerce, Trade and Development strongly
endorsed Reklais confirmation saying that she possesses the necessary
skills and knowledge in telecommunications. Reklai manages PRA Computer
Sales and Services, a family-owned business that started operations since
1999.
Another presidential appointment for the Palau Public Utilities Corp.
board member Mariana Espangel was rejected, however with a vote of four
yes and five no. Espangels confirmation was also put into reconsideration
last week but her confirmation was rejected after another voting.
