ONLY a few individuals have responded to the vacancy announcements for three top Public School System positions — associate commissioner for administrative services, finance director and Head Start program director.
Only one candidate has submitted an application for the second top PSS post formerly occupied by now Education Commissioner David M. Borja.
For the job of the finance director, which has been vacant since the retirement of Richard Waldo on Dec. 29, two individuals submitted applications.
The vacancy announcements were closed on Friday, Jan. 5.
“As of 2:30 (Jan. 5), we had received only one application for associate commissioner and two for the finance director,” PSS personnel specialist 4 Annie Mendiola told Variety on Friday.
The sole candidate for associate commissioner is an in-house applicant while one of the applicants for finance director is from off-island.
The Head Start program director announcement also yielded only one applicant — Margaret Tudela, the program’s acting director.
PSS declined to name the applicants for the other positions.
