Missionary wins ticket to NY

A MISSIONARY was among those who won a round-trip ticket to U.S. destinations during Saipan Shell’s raffle draw at the Paseo de Marianas in Garapan on Thursday.
Kim Kyung Ae of the New Covenant Church in Dandan jumped for joy upon learning that she had won one of the two round-trip tickets to New York.
Kim, who owns six cars that she and her pastor husband, Xiang Zhu, use as service vehicles for the church’s daily activities, said she is a loyal customer of Shell.
She could hardly believe she won the final draw, she said, adding that she would love to travel to New York with her husband, and she would talk it over with him as soon as he got home.
She was with her children, Anna Zhu, 12, and Aaron, 9, when she attended the raffle draw and patiently waited until almost midnight for the announcement of the winner’s name.
Shell’s retail manager Jeanette Suzuki said the raffle was the last part of the company’s “fly free or get free gas” promotion.
Each Shell gas user was issued a “lucky passport.” And for every gallon of gas, a “passport” holder got one stub to be attached to the “passport.”
He could get $7 worth of gas or store items once the “passport” had 100 stubs.
The “passport” cover served as an entry form for the raffle.
The other winners were Joseph Sablan Jr., also for the New York tickets; Reina Raymond and James Berth, round-trip tickets to Los Angeles; Roselle De Belen and Francisco Diesta, round-trip tickets to Hawaii; Raymond Jacob Borja and Maria Luz Golotina, round-trip tickets to Seattle.
Suzuki said 10 people also won $1,000 worth of gas.
“We just want to give something back to the customers. We at Shell always like to do something for our valued customers,” Suzuki said.
