THE Commonwealth Utilities
Corp. wants the driver of a pick-up truck that rammed into a power pole
and caused a 12-hour power outage in Kagman to pay for damages.
CUC spokeswoman Pamela Mathis said they should be compensated for overtime
and equipment costs as well as revenue loss, either by the driver or the
trucks insurance firm.
The accident occurred at 11:12 a.m. on Sunday near the Mobil gas station.
The truck was traveling from Kagman and was headed toward Isa Drive when
it hit the power pole.
The driver was taken to the hospital after the incident.
This was the fourth traffic-related incident that has caused power outages
in the past couple of weeks, Mathis said.
She said Sundays accident created a huge problem for residents of
Kagman, Lower Base, Sadog Tasi, Capital Hill, Mount Tapochao and As Teo.
According to Mathis, power was restored within 20 to 30 minutes except
in Kagman which remained without power until 10:41 p.m.
Mathis said the restoration of power took that long because there
were some significant problems that CUC encountered while working on it.
She said CUC had a hard time replacing the pole.
