6 children abandoned for several days

THE Child Protective Services and the Guam Police Department are investigating a suspected case of abandonment of six children, including a three-month-old.
GPD public affairs officer Allan Guzman said the six children include a three-month old, a 2-year-old, a 3-year-old, an 8-year-old, an 11-year-old, and a 12-year-old.
“The children were left abandoned at a residence in Yigo. The CPS social worker was contacted by a female who identified herself as a tenant of the residence and she reported to CPS that the mother and father (of the children) informed her several days ago that they (parents) were going to the store. She later discovered that they haven’t returned since,” Guzman said.
The concerned female tenant reported the matter at 4:26 p.m. on Friday, and CPS has since taken custody of the children.
“The mother of the children later contacted police and was interviewed. No arrests have been made and the case is still ongoing,” Guzman added.
Machete fight
A woman was arrested on Friday morning after she hit another woman with a machete.
Kinta Kintiro Cheipot, 30, from Yigo, was charged with family violence, aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime, and criminal mischief.
Guzman said officers from the Dededo precinct responded to a disturbance call on Jesus Amparo Street in Yigo.
“When they got there, they met a man who told them that his wife was attacked by another woman with a machete, and his wife had received injuries. Guam Fire Department medics arrived to treat the woman,” Guzman added.
Preliminary reports, according to Guzman, showed that the two women began arguing and Cheipot used a machete to assault the man’s wife.
Because of the physical altercation, the wife received lacerations to her left bicep.
Concerned citizen foils burglary
Thanks to an eyewitness, two individuals were arrested early Saturday morning as they were attempting to burglarize the Pacific LP Gas compound on Ypao Road in Tamuning.
“The eyewitness nearby the Pacific LP Gas saw a Nissan pickup truck driving in the area suspiciously and contacted police to investigate the matter. Police responded with the information given and located the suspect fleeing in the area of Pick A Nail Street and Tun Jose Salas Street in Tamuning,” Guzman added.
Police later located the suspected driver of the pickup truck at the Century Plaza parking lot. Police officers charged the driver of the pickup truck, Angelica Cruz Mesa, 50, of Tamuning, with conspiracy, guilt established by complicity, criminal facilitation, and burglary. She was booked and confined.
Also arrested in this case was the suspect found on Pick A Nail Street identified by police as James Arthur Fuller, 45, also of Tamuning. He was charged with conspiracy, resisting arrest, criminal facilitation, and burglary. He was also booked and confined.
All the items found in their possession were returned to Pacific LP Gas, according to Guzman.
Sexual assault arrest
A man was arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
The suspect was identified by police as Gary Joaquin Taisague Towai, 23, of Dededo.
“The mother of a 14-year-old girl reported to Dededo Precinct officers that her daughter was sexually assaulted. Preliminary reports indicate that while Towai was there to drop off a gas tank at the Fern Terrace residence, he entered the home (of the alleged victim),” Guzman stated.
It was at that point when Towai allegedly made advances and inappropriately touched the 14-year-old girl.
“He later forced himself on her but she managed to break free and run to the neighbors and reported the incident,” Guzman added.
Towai was booked and confined.
